Marcelino Alvarez
Chief Executive Officer
Marcelino is a lifelong boater who grew up fishing and scuba diving in South Florida. He began his career in advertising, producing digital campaigns at Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Wieden + Kennedy. Afterwards, he founded Uncorked Studios, a product design firm that helped companies such as Samsung, Nike, Google, Intel, and adidas bring innovative software and hardware products to market. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Duke University.
Tara Russell
Chief Strategy Officer
Tara Russell is a seasoned social entrepreneur, results-oriented visionary leader and keen strategist. Tara served as the founding President of Fathom and SVP, Global Impact for Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest travel and leisure company. She started her career in consumer products, including product development with Nike; technical sales and marketing at Intel; and manufacturing with General Motors in the US and in Shanghai. Russell has been recognized widely for her leadership, including being named by Fast Company magazine as one of its Most Creative People in Business. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
Nick Schoeps
Chief Technology Officer
Nick Schoeps previously founded upspun design, a Portland-based EV engineering firm. He is a veteran of electric motorsports; he took Team Motoczysz to three consecutive Isle of Man TT-Zero victories. His teams are equally successful off the track, launching the EV brand Bultaco, designing an electric superbike with Pierre Treblanche, and solving production automotive challenges for Borg Warner, Arcimoto, and Magna International. Nick has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Charles Steinback
VP, Business Development
Charles brings close to two decades of experience working with the fishing sector, governments, partners, and funders from around the world to design, implement, and finance innovative ocean conservation solutions. Previously, he led strategic initiatives at Future of Fish that supported the development and execution of their on-the-ground fishery development projects. Before that, he founded and created the Marine Consulting Initiative at Ecotrust. He also spun out a technology company, Point 97, whose mission was delivering solutions that drove marine resource dependent communities towards food and economic security. He earned a B.S. in Fisheries Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
